After I read Hayden’s “bedtime story” last night, he did the cutest thing.
I asked him if we were done with the book and if he was ready to go to bed, or if he wanted to look at the book by himself for awhile.
He said that he wanted to read the book to his babies.
He then proceeded to turn the book to face ‘Pink Baby’ and ‘Blue Baby’ and summarize the book to them page-by-page.
He would say things like, “see Pink Baby, the fireman is sleeping; see Blue Baby, the firemen are working.”
It was so cute. It was like he was a little teacher or daddy and they were his students/babies.
It made me smile and warmed my heart. He really is a sweet little boy (and going to be a wonderful big brother - hopefully).

feeling reassured.
This morning I went in for my doctor's appointment (I'm 13 week 2 days today - due May 2nd, 2011).
They found the heartbeat easily - it was 152.
It felt really good to hear that beat and to receive that reassurance.
Other than that, there wasn't much to report.
They scheduled my "big US" for December 13th - so that will be the day that we hopefully are able to determine this baby's gender.
And my next OB/GYN appointment will be November 24th.

feeling nervous.
My last appointment with my OBGYN was Friday, September 24th. That is nearly a month ago.
I admit that I am anxious going into my next appointment - which is scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday, October 27th.
I am nervous that things won't be okay. I am nervous that they won't find a heartbeat. I know that chances are that everything is okay - I do know that; however, that doesn't keep me from being nervous.
A close friend of mine went in for her second OBGYN appointment recently only to find out that her 10-week baby had no heartbeat. At 7 weeks, the baby was fine. By 10 weeks, the baby was no longer alive. My friend had no idea.
The reality of her situation scares me - makes me a little paranoid.
I want to hear that heartbeat. I want everything to be okay. I hope I don't have to experience the pain and anguish my friend has been experiencing.
I won't know the reality of my situation until Wednesday. And Wednesday cannot come soon enough.

hayden "sings" at church.
This past Sunday, Hayden's Sunday School class sang at church. Hayden participated in his own way; however, he did not sing a single word.
He showed off his balancing skills, did a little dancing, and even took a bit of a tumble down the steps. It was VERY amusing!
Watch for yourself and enjoy. I sure did. (NOTE: Hayden is the little boy on the far left.)

the reveal.
The first person we told about the baby was Hayden.
We showed him his own ultrasound picture and asked him about it (he knows that the picture is of him when he was a baby and that he was in my "belly" when the picture was taken) and then we showed him the baby's ultrasound picture and asked him where he thought that baby was - he said, “somebody else’s belly.”
We then explained to him that the baby was actually in my belly (I do realize this isn't really accurate, but the description was going to have to suffice) and that he was going to be a brother - a wonderful big brother. We then gave him a book we had bought him about becoming a big brother and read it.
After that, we ventured out to a pumpkin patch to purchase our ‘Pumpkin Family’. Hayden picked out all the pumpkins. Later when asked to identify the pumpkins, he labeled the baby as “my baby.”

He seems very happy and excited to be a big brother - although I am not sure if he really gets it. It’s tough because he can’t see any evidence of the baby's existence. So although he knows there is a baby and that he is going to be a big brother, I don’t think it has really sunk in yet.
But that’s okay. I am sure by the time the baby arrives it will all become very real to him.
The next people we told were my parents.
They came over for dinner and Hayden told them all about the ‘Pumpkin Family’ letting them know about his baby and that he is going to be a big brother. It was adorable. They were very excited. I think my dad almost cried. I then called my sister (and her husband), my grandma, and my mimi and let them know our news (but told them to keep it a secret until Thursday afternoon).
The next people we told were Randy’s mom and aunt.
Again, Hayden told them about the ‘Pumpkin Family’ and revealed the news in that manner. And again, it was wonderful. They were also very happy.
Finally we told "the world."
By posting my blog post last Thursday, we let everyone in on our secret. I have to say that I was overwhelmed by the vast amount of well wishes and words of congratulations (THANK YOU!).
And now everyone knows. Everyone seems extremely happy for us - and that is a wonderful feeling: to have this support and encouragement feels amazing. Again - thank you.

finding out i was pregnant - in pictures.
When I first found out I was pregnant (back on my birthday), I proceeded to take a bunch of pictures. Pretty goofy stuff.
Check them out:

Obviously I was happy (and still am).
Randy thinks I am a moron for taking these pictures, but I think it's pretty darn amusing.

the beginning.
I am embarrassed to admit that it didn't take long to conceive this baby. Considering all the difficulty we had getting pregnant with Hayden - 5 failed IUIs, a hysterosalpingogram, and then finally conceiving naturally after a year of struggling - we knew that this conception could take a while; however, we were wrong.
We actually started trying August 1st. I had purchased a generic, cheap ovulation predictor kit and started testing August 4th. August 8th was the day it registered that I was about to ovulate. So we acted accordingly (gotta love the innuendo).
This baby was actually conceived on August 9th, 2010. Gotta love that date - 8.9.10 - fun!
And that was that.
I took my first pregnancy test on my birthday - August 18th, 2010 - and didn't think it would be positive, but thought about how amazing it would be if it was. Wouldn't that be a great birthday present?
To my surprise, it was positive. I was elated.
I told Randy and he thought I was lying. I had to show him the test to prove to him that I wasn't lying. He was also happy - very happy.
A few days later, I took another test - it was also positive.
And now here I am 11 weeks pregnant and doing well.
I am eager to return to the doctor for my next appointment (which isn't until October 27th) so I can hear that heartbeat again - to get that reassurance of life and well-being. Hopefully everything will be well - I’ll be sure to let you know.

a little news to share.
I have some news to share. I think the picture says it all.
I am pregnant.
I am actually a little over 10 weeks pregnant - due May 2nd, 2011.
We have known for almost 2 months now. I found out on my birthday - August 18th.
Randy and I are very excited.
There are certainly more details to come - like how we told Hayden, how we kept it a secret from everyone for nearly 2 months, and how we told my parents.
Until then, this simple "announcement post" will have to suffice.
The end.

ozark corn maze.
Last Saturday, we took Hayden to Ozark Corn Maze. Of course, I brought my camera and took lots of pictures (which is what this post is essentially going to consist of).
Hayden gave the pumpkin man a big hug and started talking with him - it was adorable.
Hayden loved pretending to drive this tractor. He kept talking about he was going to pick up some supplies for "Farmer Pickles" (Note: Farmer Pickles is a character on 'Bob the Builder').
Hayden also loved these pigs - although he was very concerned that they weren't pink: he thought they must be exceptionally dirty. I let him know that all pigs are not pink.
and here is the corn maze:

then we rode these cow things. oh my heavens. First off, let me say that I was extremely impressed that Hayden wanted to ride this and then did, in fact, ride it. He did really well. HOWEVER, this was the most bumpiest "ride" ever. I needed to do it, because I don't think he could have done it alone - but it was not enjoyable.
and lastly, we have Hayden with some hay.
randy and hayden.
Enjoy!
